Alert for international reserves
The deputy for the Comunidad Ciudadana (CC), Carlos Alarcón, warned that the government of the Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) intends to approve regulations that evade the control of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly (ALP) in international operations related to the purchase and sale of gold.
“The Government, with the Gold Law, wants a blank check to squander our physical gold reserves, avoiding the approval of the Plurinational Legislative Assembly for each international operation it carries out, violating article 158 of the Political Constitution of the State,” the parliamentarian said from his social networks.
At a press conference, Alarcón recalled that in 2022 a protest by opposition legislators managed to stop the treatment of this norm in the plenary session of the chamber, questioning whether it should again insist on its approval.
He pointed out that it is intended to camouflage the central objective of this regulation, which consists in the sale of the physical reserves of the mineral, eluding the control of the ALP, in order to proceed with the purchase of foreign currency and continue with the squander, characteristic of of the last years.
“The savings of past, present and future generations of Bolivians are being compromised, the stability of the Bolivian currency and the country’s economic system is at stake,” said the parliamentarian, anticipating the opposition’s refusal to approve this law.
Last week, the pro-government deputy Omar Yujra, president of the Planning, Economic Policy and Finance Commission, announced that during the 15th Ordinary Session of this instance, two bills were approved, the first aimed at strengthening international reserves and a financing program to strengthen development related to tourism in the regions of Tarija and Uyuni.

El diputado por Comunidad Ciudadana (CC), Carlos Alarcón, advirtió que el gobierno del Movimiento al Socialismo (MAS) pretende aprobar normativas que eluden el control de la Asamblea Legislativa Plurinacional (ALP) en operaciones internacionales relacionadas a la compra y venta de oro.
“El Gobierno, con la Ley del Oro quiere un cheque en blanco para dilapidar nuestras reservas físicas de oro, eludiendo la aprobación de la Asamblea Legislativa Plurinacional para cada operación internacional que realice, violando el artículo 158 de la Constitución Política del Estado”, sostuvo el parlamentario desde sus redes sociales.
En conferencia de prensa, Alarcón recordó que en 2022 una protesta de legisladores de oposición logró frenar el tratamiento de esta norma en el pleno camaral, cuestionando que nuevamente se insista con su aprobación.
Señaló que se pretende camuflar el objetivo central de esta norma, que consiste en la venta de las reservas físicas del mineral, eludiendo el control de la ALP, para de esta forma, proceder con la compra de divisas extranjeras y continuar con el derroche, característico de los últimos años.
“Se está comprometiendo el ahorro de las generaciones pasadas, presentes y futuras de los bolivianos, está en juego la estabilidad de la moneda boliviana y del sistema económicos del país”, afirmó el parlamentario adelantando la negativa de la oposición para aprobar esta ley.
La semana pasada, el diputado oficialista Omar Yujra, presidente de la Comisión de Planificación, Política Económica y Finanzas anunció que durante la 15ª Sesión Ordinaria de esta instancia, se aprobaron dos proyectos de ley, el primero destinado al fortalecimiento de las reservas internacionales y un programa de financiamiento para fortalecer el desarrollo relacionado al turismo en las regiones de Tarija y Uyuni.
