In 27 cities on four continents, they held rallies to validate the measures of the January 25 plebiscite
Bolivian residents abroad made their voices heard to validate the determinations made at the national meeting on January 25. Thus, there were town halls and meetings last weekend in 27 cities in 15 countries on four continents.
The manager of this movement, David Mendoza, said that this was possible thanks to the efforts of the Bolivian community abroad. “Everyone, without distinction, joined in a civic way without being affiliated with a political group,” Mendoza said.
A few weeks ago, the Coordination Unit of the International Cabildo was formed at the request of the president of the Pro Santa Cruz Committee, Rómulo Calvo. Its main task was to coordinate with Bolivian residents in these four continents: America, Europe, Asia and Oceania.
The councils repeated the order of the one carried out in the country, but adapted to each city, according to the time they were allowed to hold the event. For example, in some places it was two hours and in others 30 minutes. Blanca Monasterio, a Bolivian resident in New York, USA, indicated that the meeting was attended by compatriots living in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.
“We got together to support the actions that are being carried out in favor of the country’s democracy,” Monasterio said, adding that some 200 people attended this meeting, who met in Times Square in the New York capital.
Gerardo Ballivián, a resident of Naples, a city in the state of Florida, highlighted that for the town hall in the United States, which was held in five states, an attempt was made to unify the schedule as in other Latin American countries, such as Argentina and Chile.
In the meeting that was held in Naples, he noted, we invited Bolivian speakers who have lived in the United States for years, and even had the participation of a representative of the Cuban community, “so that he can tell us about his experiences in the communist regime that currently lives Cuba and from there we went on to the questions, which were all approved”.

Los residentes bolivianos en el exterior hicieron escuchar su voz para validar las determinaciones que se asumieron en el cabildo nacional del 25 de enero. Es así que hubo cabildos y reuniones el pasado fin de semana en 27 ciudades de 15 países en cuatro continentes.
El gestor de este movimiento, David Mendoza, dijo que esto fue posible gracias al esfuerzo de la comunidad boliviana en el exterior. “Todos, sin distinción, se unieron de una manera cívica sin estar afiliados a una agrupación política”, destacó Mendoza.
Hace unas semanas, se formó la Unidad de Coordinación del Cabildo Internacional ante el pedido del presidente del Comité Pro Santa Cruz, Rómulo Calvo. La misma tuvo, como tarea principal, coordinar con los residentes bolivianos en estos cuatro continentes: América, Europa, Asia y Oceanía.
Los cabildos repitieron el orden del realizado en el país, pero adaptado a cada ciudad, según el tiempo que tenían permitido para la realización del evento. Por ejemplo, en algunos lugares fue de dos horas y en otros de 30 minutos. Blanca Monasterio, residente boliviana en Nueva York, EEUU, indicó que al encuentro asistieron los compatriotas que viven en Nueva York, Nueva Jersey y Connecticut.
“Nos juntamos para apoyar las acciones que se están realizando en pro de la democracia del país”, indicó Monasterio y agregó que a este encuentro asistieron unas 200 personas, que se reunieron en el Times Square de la capital neoyorquina.
Gerardo Ballivián, residente de Naples ciudad del estado de Florida, resaltó que para el cabildo en Estados Unidos, que se realizó en cinco estados, se trató de unificar el horario al igual que en otros países de Latinoamérica, como Argentina y Chile.
En el cabildo que se hizo en Naples, acotó, invitamos oradores bolivianos que viven en Estados Unidos hace años, incluso también se contó con la participación de un representante de la comunidad cubana, “para que nos cuente sus vivencias en régimen comunista que vive actualmente Cuba y de ahí pasamos a las preguntas, las cuales todas fueron aprobadas todas”.
