The strike continues and the plebiscite asks for a law to allocate seats before the 2025 elections
In a massive concentration registered at the foot of Christ the Redeemer, on day 23 of the strike, it was decided to give the Government 72 hours to release the detainees, while the strike continues
With the national anthem, the plebiscite convened by the Committee for Santa Cruz began, in which it was decided to continue with the strike. Rómulo Calvo, civic leader, asked four questions and one of them conditions the lifting of the strike to the release of those detained in the latest confrontations.
The questions Calvo asked are the following:
1.- Do you all agree to instruct our legislators to immediately manage the approval of a law that guarantees the economic and electoral application of the census data before the 2025 elections?
2.- Do you all agree to delegate to the Committee for Santa Cruz the convening of a constitutional commission, which, within the legal and democratic framework, reviews the future political relationship of Santa Cruz with the Bolivian State?
3.- Do you all agree to claim and demand that the departments of Bolivia, within the framework of national unity, join in the fight for the application of census data before 2025?
4.- Do you all agree that, if within 72 hours, the departments of Bolivia do not formally join this claim with effective measures, we assume on our own account and responsibility our own claims for the benefit of Bolivians who live and work in Santa Cruz?
5.- Do you all agree to maintain the strike until, within these 72 hours, all citizens illegally detained in exercise of their right to protest are released and the end of the police repression against the people and their leaders is guaranteed?”.
To all of them, the population responded: “Yes.”
Thousands of thousands of people gathered around Christ the Redeemer, where this massive Santa Cruz rally took place, in which civic leaders and members of the Interinstitutional Committee for the Promotion of the 2023 Census participated. In addition to deputies, senators, councilors, assembly members and other elected news, among them the governor Luis Fernando Camacho, who said he was doing it “as one more citizen”.
The rector of the Autonomous University Gabriel René Moreno (Uagrm), Vicente Cuéllar, commanded a massive Morenian march that merged with the thousands of citizens who gathered at the Christ. From there, the rector said: “We are standing up, we are firm, they are not going to intimidate us. They are not going to break us with the stick, and the sharp dagger of populism. Here is a people standing.”
Cuéllar, as well as the Santa Cruz governor Luis Fernando Camacho and the civic leader Rómulo Calvo have been denounced by the Central Obrera Regional (COR) of El Alto for the alleged commission of eight crimes. The La Paz Prosecutor’s Office accepted the lawsuit, which was made public at noon this Sunday.
In this regard, Camacho was consulted by the media when he arrived at the Christ. He said not to be afraid.
El paro continúa y el cabildo pide ley para asignar escaños antes de las elecciones 2025
En una multitudinaria concentración registrada a los pies de Cristo Redentor, en la jornada 23 de paro, se decidió darle 72 horas al Gobierno para que se libere a los detenidos, en tanto el paro continúa
Con el himno nacional, empezó el cabildo convocado por el Comité pro Santa Cruz, en el que se definió continuar con el paro. Rómulo Calvo, líder cívico, hizo cuatro preguntas y una de ellas condiciona el levantamiento del paro a la liberación de los detenidos en los últimos enfrentamientos.
Las preguntas que hizo Calvo son las siguientes:
1.- ¿Están todos de acuerdo en instruir a nuestros legisladores para que, de manera inmediata, gestionen la aprobación de una ley que garantice la aplicación económica y electoral de los datos del censo antes de las elecciones 2025?
2.- ¿Están todos de acuerdo en delegar al Comité Pro Santa Cruz la convocatoria a una comisión constitucional, que en el marco legal y democrático, revise la futura relación política de Santa Cruz con el Estado Boliviano?
3.- ¿Están todos de acuerdo en reclamar y exigir a los departamentos de Bolivia para que, en el marco de la unidad nacional, se unan en la lucha por la aplicación de los datos del censo antes del 2025?
4.- ¿Están todos de acuerdo que, si en el plazo de 72 horas, los departamentos de Bolivia no se unen formalmente a este reclamo con medidas efectivas, asumamos por nuestra propia cuenta y responsabilidad nuestras propias reivindicaciones en beneficio de los bolivianos que viven y trabajan en Santa Cruz?
5.- ¿Están todos de acuerdo en mantener el paro hasta que dentro de estas 72 horas, sean liberados todos los ciudadanos detenidos ilegalmente en ejercicio a su derecho a la protesta y se garantice el fin de la represión policial contra el pueblo y sus dirigentes?”.
A todas ellas, la población respondió: “Sí”.
Miles de miles personas se congregaron a los alrededores del Cristo Redentor, donde se llevó a cabo esta masiva concentración cruceña, en la que participaron líderes cívicos y miembros del Comité Interinstitucional Impulsor del Censo 2023. Además de diputados, senadores, concejales, asambleístas y otras actualidades electas, entre ellas el gobernador Luis Fernando Camacho, quien dijo que lo hacía “como un ciudadano más”.
El rector de la Universidad Autónoma Gabriel René Moreno (Uagrm), Vicente Cuéllar, comandó una masiva marcha moreniana que se fusionó a los miles de ciudadanos que se congregaron en el Cristo. Desde allí, el rector dijo: “Estamos de pie, estamos firmes no nos van amedrentar. No nos van a doblegar con el garrote, y la daga punzante del populismo. Acá está un pueblo de pie”.
Cuéllar, así como el gobernador cruceño Luis Fernando Camacho y el líder cívico Rómulo Calvo han sido denunciados por la Central Obrera Regional (COR) de El Alto por la presunta comisión de ocho delitos. La Fiscalía de La Paz aceptó demanda, que hecha pública al mediodía de este domingo.
Al respecto, Camacho fue consultado por los medios cuando llegaba al Cristo. Dijo no tener miedo.
