Soldiers rescue lost tourist in Salar de Uyuni

• Air Force personnel managed to track the active GPS signal on the foreign citizen’s motorcycle, proceeding to report the finding to the nearest municipality.

After reports about a tourist of Italian nationality reported lost in the Uyuni salt flat, this person was rescued by members of the Bolivian Air Force thanks to a GPS tracking job.

The person in charge of detailing this information was the Secretary of Agricultural Development and Food Security of the Government of Potosí, Álvaro Peralta, who reported on the disappearance report since March 3.

He stated that after this report, the search and rescue brigades immediately proceeded with the respective tasks, knowing the complexity of this task given the dimensions of the salt desert in this locality.

“A tourist of Italian origin has also been reported as missing on his motorcycle inside the Salar de Uyuni, the rescue and aid brigades have been immediately activated,” the authority said.

After monitoring and reporting to the respective units in charge of the search, members of the Air Force managed to track the active GPS signal on the motorcycle of the foreign subject, proceeding to report the finding to the nearest municipality to start the rescue work.

“The tourist, through the GPS that he had active, has been tracked by the Air Force and communicated to the municipality of Colcha-k with the coordinates and has subsequently been found near the community of Villa Candelaria,” he reported.

For this reason, Peralta urged residents and visitors, both nationals and foreigners, to be careful when entering the salt flat given the size of the place and the danger that the rainy season represents, specifying that it is this season when there are more reported missing person cases.

Militares rescatan a turista perdido en salar de Uyuni

• Efectivos de la Fuerza Aérea lograron rastrear la señal de GPS activa en la motocicleta del ciudadano extranjero, procediendo a reportar el hallazgo al municipio más cercano.

Tras reportes sobre un turista de nacionalidad italiana reportado como perdido en el salar de Uyuni, esta persona fue rescatada por efectivos de la Fuerza Aérea Boliviana gracias a un trabajo de rastreo mediante GPS.

El encargado de detallar esa información fue el secretario de Desarrollo Agropecuario y Seguridad Alimentaria de la Gobernación de Potosí, Álvaro Peralta, quien informó sobre el reporte de desaparición desde el pasado 3 de marzo.

Manifestó que después de este reporte, inmediatamente las brigadas de rescate y búsqueda procedieron con las tareas respectivas conociendo de la complejidad de esta tarea ante las dimensiones del desierto de sal en esta localidad.

“También se ha reportado a un turista de procedencia italiana que se ha extraviado en su moto en el interior del salar de Uyuni, inmediatamente se han activado las brigadas de rescate y auxilio”, indicó la autoridad.

Tras el monitoreo y reporte a las respectivas unidades encargadas de la búsqueda, efectivos de la Fuerza Aérea lograron rastrear la señal de GPS activa en la motocicleta del súbdito extranjero, procediendo a reportar el hallazgo al municipio más cercano para iniciar las labores de rescate.

“El turista, por el GPS que tenía activo, ha sido rastreado por la Fuerza Aérea y comunicado al municipio de Colcha-k con las coordenadas y posteriormente ha sido encontrado en cercanías de la comunidad de villa candelaria”, informó.

Por ello, Peralta instó a los pobladores y visitantes, tanto nacionales como extranjeros, a tener cuidado al momento de adentrarse en el salar dadas las dimensiones del lugar y la peligrosidad que representa la época de lluvias, precisando que es esta temporada cuando se reportan mayores casos de personas extraviadas.
