The Observatory of Defenders of Unitas (National Union of Institutions for Social Action Work) registered 27 violations of press freedom in the country, between January and February. The aggression against journalists is the most recurrent type of violation, followed by the impediment of access to information.
According to the monitoring carried out by the observatory, 10 attacks on journalists, six impediments to access to information, three threats, three stigmatizations, three censorships and two attacks on the media were recorded.
With regard to cases of aggression against journalists, three cases that occurred in Cochabamba stand out: the municipal intervention at a party of a folkloric fraternity, which led to the violent reaction of the people of the premises who also attacked a journalist from Red Uno (01/06/2022).
Also the case of the blockade at the entrance to the K’ara K’ara dump, where people against vaccination against Covid-19 attacked journalists from the newspaper Los Tiempos (01/18/2022).
Similarly, there is the attack on a team from the ATB network by a group of workers from the spinning mill Hilsend S.A., who held them against their will inside the facilities and punctured the tires of their vehicle (02/08/2022).
El Observatorio de Defensores de Unitas (Unión Nacional de Instituciones para el Trabajo de Acción Social) registró 27 vulneraciones a la libertad de prensa en el país, entre enero y febrero. La agresión a periodistas es el tipo de vulneración más recurrente, seguida del impedimento de acceso a la información.
De acuerdo con el monitoreo realizado por el observatorio se registraron 10 agresiones a periodistas, seis impedimentos de acceso a la información, tres amenazas, tres estigmatizaciones, tres censuras y dos ataques a medios de comunicación.
En lo referido a casos de agresión a periodistas resaltan tres casos sucedidos en Cochabamba: la intervención municipal a una fiesta de una fraternidad folklórica, que derivó en la reacción violenta de las personas del local que agredieron, además, a un periodista de la Red Uno (6/01/2022).
También el caso del bloqueo al ingreso del botadero de K’ara K’ara, donde personas en contra de la vacunación contra la Covid-19 agredieron a periodistas del diario Los Tiempos (18/01/2022).
De igual forma está la agresión a un equipo de la red ATB por un grupo de trabajadores de la hilandería Hilsend S.A., que lo retuvo contra su voluntad al interior de sus instalaciones y pincharon las llantas de su movilidad (08/02/2022).
