Growing unemployment
Numerous economic aspects inherited by the government of President Luis Arce Catacora have determined that unemployment in the country, already existing for years, continues to grow even more and that for new causes it acquires a level that is still worrying and even alarming.
This problem has already been detected and considered in the electoral campaigns of recent years and no less in the elections of November last year, which were characterized by the presence of nine political parties, all of which offered to solve in their government programs. the problem of unemployment. Moreover, they remarked that this matter would be the first point they would resolve if they were to occupy the presidential seat.
As is known, the Bolivian population spoke out in favor of the candidate Arce Catacora, a well-known economist, who was even running for the 2010 Nobel Prize in Economics, who in the Agenda for the Bicentennial pointed out four priority areas and specifically detailed that it offered “economic opportunities and decent employment, transforming productive improvements into better sources of work.”
In this regard, he added that “the productivity of the private sector must be increased, efforts must be made in terms of decent employment, support for business activity, knowledge services and the orange economy,” etc. He also announced support for nascent industry, innovation awards, support for producers in the areas of science and technology and, in general, all this “to reduce the impacts that our economy may suffer from future changes in the terms of trade.”
In similar terms, other parties offered to solve the unemployment problem, all of them pointing out that this would be the fundamental issue to be discussed, along with those of public health and foreign debt. However, three months into force, the new government does not seem to face unemployment and, rather, it has been aggravated by the inherited internal economic crisis and the international difficulties that the Covid-19 pandemic continues to create, although, in any case, we will have to wait.
Desempleo en crecimiento
Numerosos aspectos económicos heredados por el gobierno del presidente Luis Arce Catacora han determinado que el desempleo en el país, ya subsistente desde años atrás, siga creciendo más aún y que por nuevas causas adquiera un nivel que no deja de ser preocupante y hasta alarmante.
Ese problema ya fue detectado y considerado en las campañas electorales de los últimos años y no menos en las elecciones de noviembre del año pasado, las mismas que se caracterizaron por la presencia de nueve partidos políticos, todos los cuales ofrecieron en sus programas de gobierno solucionar el problema del desempleo. Es más, remarcaron que ese asunto sería el primer punto que resolverían en caso de llegar a ocupar la silla presidencial.
Como es sabido, la población boliviana se pronunció a favor del candidato Arce Catacora, conocido economista, quien inclusive estaba siendo postulado para el Premio Nobel de Economía de 2010, quien en la Agenda para el Bicentenario señaló cuatro áreas prioritarias y de manera específica detalló que ofrecía “oportunidades económicas y empleo digno, transformando las mejoras productivas en mejores fuentes de trabajo”.
Al respecto, agregó que “se debe elevar la productividad del sector privado, hacer esfuerzos en materia de empleo digno, apoyo a la actividad empresarial, servicios de conocimiento y economía naranja”, etc. También anunció apoyo a la industria naciente, premios de innovación, apoyo a los productores en las áreas de ciencia y tecnología y, en general, todo eso “para reducir los impactos que pueda sufrir nuestra economía por futuros cambios en los términos de intercambio”.
En términos parecidos, otros partidos ofrecieron resolver el problema del desempleo, señalando todos ellos que ese sería el tema fundamental a tratar, junto con los de la salud pública y la deuda externa. Sin embargo, a tres meses de vigencia, el nuevo gobierno no da visos de enfrentar el desempleo y, más bien, éste se ha agravado por la crisis económica interna heredada y las dificultades internacionales que sigue creando la pandemia del Covid-19, aunque, en todo caso, habrá que esperar.
