An almost inaccessible government
It was never an open or transparent government; in fact, until now, President Luis Arce and Vice President David Choquehuanca have not held a press conference to answer questions from journalists. But, day that passes, the situation worsens because its officials adopt the same ostrich strategy and leave the public without answers on pressing issues such as Covid-19, or the return to classes.
A few ministers go to the media they consider related to communicate their messages, others make statements in which they do not allow questions that they mistakenly call a press conference, or there are those that limit the questions to two or three.
But, it could be said that the generality does not respond to journalistic requirements and in that this government is gradually resembling that of Evo Morales, who vetoed independent media, not only for advertising, but also for information.
The authorities must be reminded that they have an obligation to respond to the public through the media. It is not a favor they do to journalists.
Un gobierno casi inaccesible
Nunca fue un gobierno abierto ni transparente; de hecho, hasta ahora, el presidente Luis Arce y el vicepresidente David Choquehuanca no han dado ninguna conferencia de prensa para responder a preguntas de los periodistas. Pero, día que pasa, la situación empeora porque sus funcionarios adoptan la misma estrategia del avestruz y dejan a la ciudadanía sin respuestas sobre temas apremiantes como la Covid-19, o el regreso a clases.
Unos pocos ministros acuden a los medios que consideran afines para comunicar sus mensajes, otros hacen declaraciones en las que no permiten preguntas a las que erróneamente llaman conferencia de prensa, o hay los que limitan las preguntas a dos o tres.
Pero, se podría decir que la generalidad no responde a los requerimientos periodísticos y en eso este Gobierno se va pareciendo poco a poco al de Evo Morales, que vetaba a los medios independientes, no sólo para la publicidad, sino también para la información.
Hay que recordar a las autoridades que tienen la obligación de responder a la ciudadanía a través de los medios. No es un favor que hacen a los periodistas.
