The Ministry of Defense, based on information from the National Incident Command, announced that active forest fires in Bolivia were reduced to nine.

According to the details of the official report updated until the night of October 31, all active fires are in the department of Santa Cruz, affecting five municipalities.

The fires, which at some point were even registered in five departments at the same time, generating great concern among the authorities and the affected population, were controlled thanks to the last rains and the constant work of different brigades, which attacked the fire by air and land.

The Chinook helicopter even arrived in the country to work on fire control, after the national government managed the cooperation of Canada, which it rented directly from the company Coulson Aircrane Ltda., which owns the aircraft.

In the specific case of this helicopter, according to the report of the Ministry of Defense, it discharged 1,648,871 liters of water in 219 operations.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment and Water announced in the last hours that one of the fires that persists is the one that entered the Kaa-Iya National Park and Natural Area of Integrated Management about two weeks ago.

According to the account of the Chief Ranger, Rober Salvatierra, the Kaa-Iya fire has many components because “there is the underground, the creeping and the aerial.”

However, he assured alternatives were already planned with the Crisis Committee to coordinate the involvement of Civil Defense in order to carry out an aerial verification and operate with a helicopter, which can cool down in the critical points of two specific places, where work is being carried out. to finish “liquidating” the fire.

“It has not stopped (the work), because this is a war with a common enemy that is fire and if we pull back we would be losing space. It is a lot of effort, a lot of sacrifice, but the commitment that the park rangers have is giving them strength. to those who have been joining,” said Salvatierra.

Según el detalle del reporte oficial actualizado hasta la noche del 31 de octubre, todos los incendios activos se encuentran en el departamento de Santa Cruz afectando a cinco municipios.

Los incendios, que en algún momento hasta se registraban en cinco departamentos al mismo tiempo, generando gran preocupación entre las autoridades y la población afectada, fueron controlados gracias a las últimas lluvias y el trabajo constante de distintas brigadas, que atacaron el fuego por aire y tierra.

Incluso, llegó al país el helicóptero Chinook para trabajar en el control de los incendios, después de que el gobierno nacional gestionó la cooperación de Canadá, que alquiló directamente de la empresa Coulson Aircrane Ltda., propietaria de la aeronave.

En el caso específico de este helicóptero, según el informe del Ministerio de Defensa, hizo la descarga de 1.648.871 litros de agua en 219 operaciones.

Entre tanto, el Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Agua dio a conocer en las últimas horas que uno de los incendios que persiste es el que ingresó hace alrededor de dos semanas al Parque Nacional y Área Natural de Manejo Integrado Kaa-Iya.

Según el relato del jefe de Guardaparques, Rober Salvatierra, el fuego del Kaa-Iya tiene muchos componentes porque “hay el subterráneo, el rastrero y el aéreo”.

Sin embargo, aseguró ya se planificó alternativas con el Comité de Crisis  para coordinar el involucramiento de Defensa Civil con el fin de realizar una verificación aérea y operar con un helicóptero, que pueda enfriar en los puntos críticos de dos lugares concretos, donde se está trabajando para terminar de “liquidar” el fuego.

“No se ha parado (en el trabajo), porque esto es una guerra con un enemigo común que es el fuego y si retrocedemos estaríamos perdiendo espacio. Es mucho esfuerzo, mucho sacrificio, pero el compromiso que tienen los guardaparques les está dando la fuerza a quienes se vienen sumando”, afirmó Salvatierra.
