Intimidation and the need for democracy
The MAS, Evo Morales, David Choquehuanca, Luis Arce are using intimidation of the voters, they resort to fear so that the voter does not have the freedom to choose. These threats are not democratic, they bring out the authoritarianism and dictatorial tendencies of the MAS. Morales’s party came to power via vote, it remained thanks to the elections without anyone threatening the voter, without the rivals launching the threat of taking to the streets to avoid the recognition of the election results. Those who are not Democrats approve the vote when it suits them, but if they feel that they are going to lose the election, they do not recognize the vote and go to the streets, to mobilizations and even shout about the use of arms.
Should you be afraid of such threats? Should we ignore them? Are they to be ignored? First, whoever threatens in this way does so because he feels weak in the democratic field; he senses that the vote cannot be favorable to him. In the mobilizations of months ago, in the blockades, which did not even allow oxygen to pass for the sick with Covid, it was not possible to speak of mass movements, but of violent minorities, in Yapacaní, Senkata, K’ara K’ara or in almost the whole of the Chapare. But the majority of the population did not blockade, did not abide by strikes; the drivers, the unions, the taxi drivers, the public employees, the retail traders did not.
Most of the population did not heed the calls for violence, millions of millions of Bolivians demonstrated that they want peace and tranquility; They expressed with their actions that they want to work, they indicated that they want normality and non-violence. Most of the Bolivians left feeling that they are tired of violence and intimidation. This attitude of the majority of the country gives us peace of mind, since the violent are a minority.
However, the threats should not be set aside, since those who make them are from a party that has its leadership linked to drug trafficking, that is what happens in the Chapare. The sowing of coca is not anything provided with sanctity, it is a link in the coca-cocaine circuit, but drug trafficking connections were not only anchored in the Chapare or in the Cochabamba tropics, but they extended to many parts of the country, including certain parts of El Alto de La Paz and some borders of Bolivia.
It is the illegal businesses that do not want the MAS to lose power, as it left the way open for their business; then, they are going to conspire against democracy. On the other hand, there are hundreds of leaders who were awarded by the prebendal logic of the MAS for 14 years; they will not sit idly by either, but will resort to violence to speak of fraud, not to recognize the results of the next elections.
On the other hand, the Puebla Group, including Kirchnerism, continues to do its job to weaken our democracy. Their tactic is to speak of fraud to facilitate the conspiratorial path of the MAS. The eastern agricultural bourgeoisie, which was privileged by the MAS during the 14 years of the Morales government, is not a group endowed with sanctity, but rather wants that party to return to power; that should not be left out of the analysis.
But if citizens, if young people, women and families had the courage to remove Morales from power during their peaceful mobilizations in October and November 2019, now, once again, they have the floor to defend the vote, to take care of the democracy, to prevent violent people from consuming their purpose.
Their first task is to lose our fear and vote according to your conscience; its job is, once again, to defend democracy, take care of the value of your vote. The street is not owned by the violent, it is also owned by those who defend democracy, but unlike the former, young people, women and families defend their convictions, take care of democracy, with peaceful mobilizations; they taught us that in 2019.
Bolivians who try to build a democratic path must lose fear, not let ourselves be intimidated by the violent. We need to take care of our vote, doing so with the political codes that place peace as a fundamental value that must be preserved.

Amedrentamiento y necesidad de democracia
El MAS, Evo Morales, David Choquehuanca, Luis Arce están usando el amedrentamiento de los electores, acuden al miedo para que el votante no tenga libertad de elegir. Esas amenazas no son democráticas, sacan a flote el autoritarismo y tendencia dictatorial del MAS. El partido de Morales llegó al poder vía el voto, se mantuvo merced a las elecciones sin que nadie amenace al elector, sin que los rivales lancen la amenaza de salir a las calles para evitar el reconocimiento de los resultados de las elecciones. Los que no son demócratas aprueban el voto cuando les conviene, pero si sienten que van a perder la elección, no reconocen el sufragio y acuden a la calle, a las movilizaciones y hasta vociferan hablando del uso de las armas.
¿Se debe tener miedo ante tales amenazas? ¿Hay que ignorarlas? ¿Hay que pasarlas por alto? Primero, quien amenaza de esa forma, lo hace porque se siente débil en el campo democrático; intuye que el voto no le puede resultar favorable. En las movilizaciones de meses atrás, en los bloqueos, que incluso no dejaron pasar oxígeno para los enfermos con Covid, no se podía hablar de movimientos multitudinarios, sino de minorías violentas, en Yapacaní, Senkata, K’ara K’ara o en casi el conjunto del Chapare. Pero, la mayoría de la población no hizo bloqueos, no acató paros; no lo hicieron los choferes, los gremiales, los taxistas, los empleados públicos, los comerciantes minoristas.
La mayoría de la población no acató los llamados a la violencia, millones de millones de bolivianos demostraron que desean la paz y la tranquilidad; expresaron con sus actos que desean trabajar, indicaron que quieren normalidad y no violencia. Los más de los bolivianos dejaron sentir que están cansados de violencia e intimidación. Esa actitud de la mayoría del país nos da tranquilidad, pues los violentos son una minoría.
Sin embargo, no hay que dejar de lado las amenazas, pues quienes las profieren son de un partido que tiene a sus cúpulas dirigenciales ligadas al narcotráfico, eso es lo que ocurre en el Chapare. La siembra de coca no es nada provisto de santidad, sino que es un eslabón del circuito coca-cocaína, pero las conexiones del narcotráfico no se anclaron solamente en el Chapare o en el trópico cochabambino, sino que se extendieron a muchos lugares del país, entre ellos a ciertas partes de El Alto de La Paz y algunas fronteras de Bolivia.
Son los negocios ilegales los que no quieren que el MAS pierda poder, pues este les dejó abierto el camino para su negocio; entonces, ellos van a conspirar contra la democracia. Por otro lado, hay centenas de dirigentes que fueron premiados por la lógica prebendal del MAS durante 14 años; esos tampoco se quedarán de brazos cruzados, sino que recurrirán a la violencia para hablar de fraude, para no reconocer los resultados de las próximas elecciones.
De otra parte, el Grupo de Puebla, entre ellos el kirchnerismo, sigue haciendo su tarea para debilitar nuestra democracia. Su táctica es la de hablar de fraude para facilitar el camino conspirativo del MAS. La burguesía agropecuaria de oriente, que fue la privilegiada por el MAS durante 14 años de gobierno de Morales, no es un grupo provisto de santidad, sino que desea que ese partido retorne al poder; eso no debe quedar fuera del análisis.
Pero si los ciudadanos, si los jóvenes, las mujeres y las familias tuvieron la valentía de sacar a Morales del poder durante sus movilizaciones pacíficas de octubre y noviembre de 2019, ahora, otra vez, tienen la palabra para defender el voto, para cuidar la democracia, para evitar que los violentos consumen su propósito.
Su primera tarea es perder el miedo e ir a votar de acuerdo con su conciencia; su labor consiste, de nueva cuenta, en defender la democracia, cuidar el valor de su voto. La calle no es propiedad de los violentos, también lo es de quienes defienden la democracia, pero a diferencia respecto de aquellos, los jóvenes, mujeres y familias defienden sus convicciones, cuidan la democracia, con movilizaciones pacíficas; eso nos lo enseñaron en 2019.
Los bolivianos que tratamos de construir un camino democrático debemos perder el miedo, no dejarnos amedrentar por los violentos. Requerimos cuidar nuestro voto, haciéndolo con los códigos políticos que colocan a la paz como un valor fundamental que se debe preservar.
