From Chiquitania to salar, travel for a different end of the year

Depending on the destination and the activity, packages of about four days cost between 220 and 3,000 bolivianos per person.

From the Chiquitania by train to the beauty of the Salar de Uyuni; from the adventure in the Amazon to the joy in the vineyards of Tarija. There are several options to travel and live a different end of the year with activities for all ages, tastes and pockets.

“Bolivia has a diversity of places that local tourists can enjoy at this end of the year, either alone or accompanied. The proposals are aimed at rediscovering nature, with those wonders that the different ecological levels of the country offer,” invited the manager of the state tourism company (BOLTUR), Lourdes Omoya.

The duration of the packages ranges from two days to one week. Rates per person, depending on the destination, range from 220 to 3,000 bolivianos.

Towards nature

Packages of one to four days in the Amazon invite you to reconnect with nature. In the Madidi – departing from Rurrenabaque – the tourist can observe from caimans to capuchin monkeys, capybaras and bufeos.

In Pando, the tour of two days and one night comes to Cobija and Porvenir. Includes visits to the Fish Route, Palma Real spa, Tahuamanu port, Cahuelita, Villa Rojas and Villa Esperanza.

In this category is also the circuit by the geopark Toro Toro, located in Potosí, rich in flora and fauna (it is home to the red paraba). Among other activities, there will be excursions to the caves with formations and millenary fossils.

La Chiquitania by train

The Chiquitania by train is a four-day and three-night tour of the Jesuit Missions, declared World Heritage Sites. Among the natural and cultural landscapes of the Santa Cruz region, you will visit the towns of San José, Tucabaca and Santiago de Chiquitos.

Another cultural destination, seasoned with nature, is Sucre. A special package that departs from the Capital includes activities in the towns of Tarabuco, birthplace of the pujllay dance, and Icla, ecological sanctuary full of forests.

Among the must-see destinations is the Salar de Uyuni, which in this period becomes a mirror of water. A three-day package includes excursions to the Ollague viewpoint, the Dali Desert and other iconic sites, as well as accommodation in a salt hotel. There will be time to visit the train cemetery.

Wines and adventures

In three days and one night, the Tarija Wine Route offers visits to vineyards and wineries of wines and singanis. Also, tours of San Jacinto Lake, the Coimata waterfalls and the historic San Lorenzo.

For those who enjoy adrenaline there are visits to Huayna Potosí where there will be ice climbing with specialized guides. And in the Yungas, zipline (descent in steel cable for 500 meters).
