Orange alert in seven rivers in the country

“Some are on yellow alert and others are going to orange alert, as the Ichilo River (Santa Cruz), Mamoré (Beni), (Santa Cruz) Rio Grande, Madre de Dioa [Mother of God] (Beni), Acre River (Pando), the Tijamuchi (Beni) and the Beni river are gradually growing,” he said.

500 families evacuated Guanay. Deputy Minister of Civil Defense, Oscar Cabrera, reported yesterday that the evacuation of at least 500 families affected by flooding will be evaluated in the population of Guanay, in the Yungas of La Paz, following the overflowing of rivers and Tipuani Mapiri as a result of heavy rains.

“In this moment, it could be 500 families to be evacuated from Guanay, to move them to a safer place, but is still subject to an assessment,” he said.

“Overall, we can say that rain is in the country, the biggest concern we have is in the Tropic of Cochabamba, the Yungas and the southern department of Beni, which is San Ignacio de Moxos part. Basically we will be attentive to what is going to happen,” he added.

12 people dead so far. “To date we have 12 people dead, most of them are of the Tropic of Cochabamba. Since December we posted one person dead in the Independencia municipality by a flood, five in Villa Tunari (plus a defunct), one in Toco also due to the flood, then we have two in Chuquisaca, two in Potosí, one in Santa Cruz,” said Deputy Minister of Civil Defense.
