Victims of the ‘Hotel Las Américas’ case demand justice before the Attorney General’s Office

After 17 years of waiting, those affected are seeking the current government to establish a clear position on the case.

Three victims of the emblematic ‘Hotel Las Américas’ case appeared before the Attorney General’s Office to demand an urgent meeting to clarify the judicial progress of the proceedings. Those affected want the current government administration to set a clear stance regarding the recommendations issued by international bodies.

Gelafio Santistevan, a victim in the case, stated: “We have come to submit a petition to formally appear before the attorney general and request a meeting with him, because for three governments now we have been wandering in search of a little justice.”

The main objective is to inform the authorities about the status of the international courts that have been activated and to prevent the process from being delayed any further.

For his part, Alcides Mendoza was blunt in pointing out that it cannot be that the people who set things up, killed, defamed, and imprisoned others are currently free.

Carlos Guedes supported this position by stating that the collective intention is simply “that this not remain in impunity.”
