The Red Ponchos assaulted passersby with “whippings” after they criticized the “Bolivia Is Not for Sale” march rejecting Supreme Decree 5503. The incident occurred Monday morning on Camacho Avenue in downtown La Paz.

The Red Ponchos struck people with their whips as the crowd shouted “abusive.” They justified the violence by saying, “you provoke us.”

The march of the Bolivian Workers’ Central (COB) and allied sectors reached the Ceja area of El Alto on Monday morning and then descended toward the city of La Paz, ahead of a meeting agreed with the Government to demand the repeal of Supreme Decree 5503.

The mobilization arrived in the morning in the city of El Alto and joined peasants from La Paz, who are also marching today in rejection of the aforementioned decree.
