The Cochabamba athletes Shania Romero Gutierrez (11 years old), Kiara Belén Ovando Choque (13 years old), María Raquel Valdez Atahuichi (12 years old), and Micaela Carballo Agreda (9 years old) have made the country proud after achieving third place during the III South American Roller Skating Games, held in Brazil.

The girls formed the national quartet “The Race” and are registered with the PATIN BOL Artistic Skating Sports Club.

The athletes arrived in Brazil as two-time national champions in the artistic skating quartet category.

It is important to note that the continental competition took place in Balneario Camboriú, in southern Brazil.

“The girls trained all this time under the guidance of athlete-coach Galilea Rojas. She was the one who put them on the track and guided them in building the program, marking the timings, and ensuring they confirmed their elements.

It was she who prepared them for this representation of Bolivia in Brazil. Thanks to the support and time given by Galy and, most importantly, the effort made by the girls of the Quartet, they are now ready to represent Bolivia,” emphasized Ester Atahuichi, the mother of one of the athletes, in an interview with OPINIÓN.

The competition brought together skaters from various parts of the continent, and the girls from Cochabamba managed to reach the podium, leaving an excellent impression on Brazilian soil.

Besides the host country and the Bolivian delegation, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Panama also competed, among others.

Without a doubt, Romero, Ovando, Valdez, and Carballo are a source of pride for Bolivia.
