¿El árbitro más joven del mundo? Un niño de 10 años gobierna la cancha en Bolivia
EL ALTO, Bolivia, 3 ago (Reuters) – Erick Callejas puede tener solo 10 años, y es mucho más bajo que los demás participantes en la cancha de fútbol, pero no tiene reparos en hacer cumplir las reglas como uno de los pocos árbitros de su edad.
En las alturas de El Alto, la segunda ciudad más grande de Bolivia y vecina de la capital La Paz, se puede encontrar a Callejas los fines de semana haciendo sonar su silbato y tomando las decisiones en los juegos locales, inspirado por su padre árbitro Ramiro.
“Los sábados y domingos salgo a arbitrar con mi colega pequeño, mi hijo Erick”, dijo Ramiro. “Estoy muy orgulloso, me llena la emoción porque el arbitraje lo lleva en la sangre”.
Callejas arbitró su primer partido en una liga femenina después de que su padre lo contratara para el puesto.
“Había un campeonato femenino y (la coordinadora) me preguntó si podía arbitrar y le dije que sí”.

Hasta ahora, parece estar impresionando a sus mayores con su estilo. El jugador Beimar Tancara dice que Callejas tiene un talento natural.
“Se nota que tiene ese carácter. Corre. Se mueve. No se deja intimidar por la gente, aunque el público grite”, dijo Tancara.
“Creo que nació para ser árbitro. Tiene mucho talento. Me gusta su forma de arbitrar”.
Por ahora, Callejas está arbitrando juegos en canchas de arena en la liga comunitaria, vigilado de cerca desde la banca por su madre y entrenado por su padre.
Pero tiene grandes esperanzas de llevar algún día sus talentos a nivel internacional.
“Mi sueño es arbitrar el Clásico paceño, ser árbitro de la FIFA para poder ir al Mundial, a la Copa América, a la Copa Libertadores y la Liga de Campeones”, dijo Callejas.

EL ALTO, Bolivia, Aug 3 (Reuters) – Erick Callejas may be just 10 years old – and a lot shorter than the other participants on the soccer pitch – but he has no qualms enforcing the rules as one of the few referees his age.
In high-altitude El Alto, Bolivia’s second-largest city and neighbor to capital La Paz, Callejas can be found on weekends blowing his whistle and calling the shots at local games, inspired by his referee father Ramiro.
“On Saturdays and Sundays I go out to referee with my little colleague, my son, Erick,” Ramiro said. “I am very proud, I’m filled with emotion because refereeing runs in his blood.”
Callejas refereed his first match in a women’s league after his dad signed him up for the job.
“There was a women’s championship and (the coordinator) asked if I could referee and I said yes.”

So far, he seems to be impressing his elders with his style. Player Beimar Tancara says Callejas has a natural talent.
“You can tell he has that character. He runs. He moves. He is not intimidated by people, even if the public shouts,” Tancara said.
“I think he was born to be a referee. He is very talented. I like his refereeing.”
For now, Callejas is umpiring games on sandy pitches in the community league, watched closely from the sidelines by his mother and coached by his father.
But he has big hopes to one day take his talents international.
“My dream is to referee the Bolivian Derby, to be a FIFA referee so I can go to the World Cup, America Cup, Liberators Cup and the Champions League,” Callejas said.
