Yorkpedia:

We will elevate our voices to demand freedom of political prisoners in Bolivia, cease of persecution and that justice is applied independently

(YorkPedia Editorial):- Fairfax, Virginia Mar 27, 2021 (Issuewire.com) –

Who are we?

We are the largest Bolivian community in the United States with significant minority presence based in Washington D.C. Our community will carry out a peaceful protest to ask for international help to protect and safeguard our democracy, freedom and right of expression. We gather in coordination with our communities in cities across the U.S. in an effort to protest against the activities carried by the current Bolivian government. There is persecution against opposition, military, police, former officials and authorities that constitutionally assumed the government of Bolivia, after the political failure generated by the resignation of Evo Morales and the pertinent officials that would have been designated to a succession.

What happened?

During the past 15 years, Bolivia had a government that became dictatorial and persecuted those who thought differently, destroying all kinds of opposition to the government of Evo Morales. The elections held in October 2019 were marked by a succession of crimes committed against the popular will. After investigations and analysis the OAS denounced the fraud committed by Evo Morales in the 2019 elections resulting in his resignation and escape from the country. A year later, we Bolivians went to the polls once again and Luis Arce (MAS) emerged as the president of Bolivia. We trusted the words of the new leaders who expressed that it was time for the reunion between Bolivians and who promised to stop persecution of those who “think differently”. Unfortunately, this new government and their political party are elaborating a totally wrong and false narrative about what happened in 2019. A supposed coup is the argument used in the attempt to benefit their political leader the former president Morales, when in reality a fraud was committed during elections which lead to their political failure. Based on this false narrative they are enforcing the persecutions, manipulation of justice, violation of all human rights, judicial and political punishment, illegal imprisonment of the former president of Bolivia, her ministers, military and police officers who were only complying with the Constitution of Bolivia. They are intimidating the people with excessive power. People that wish to live in democracy, justice and freedom.

What are we looking for?

This Sunday, March 28, the Bolivian people who reside in several cities in the United States such as Washington DC, New York, Miami and many others will raise voices to ask for freedom for the prisoners, a cease of persecutions and that justice is applied independently. We want to remind international organizations that there was no coup in Bolivia, there was electoral fraud.

When will we gather?

Sunday March 28 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm

Where?

Abraham Lincoln Memorial

2 Lincoln Memorial Cir NW, Washington, DC 20002
