“Once upon a man stuck to a nose”
“Once upon a man with a glued nose, once upon a superlative nose, once upon an executioner and writer nose, once upon a very bearded swordfish. Once upon a time there was an ill-faced sundial, once upon a thoughtful Altar, there was an elephant on its back, it was Ovidio Nasón with a larger nose. Once upon a spur of a galley, upon a pyramid of Egypt, the twelve tribes of noses was. Once upon a time there was a very infinite nose, many nose, a nose so fierce that on Annas’s face it was a crime.”
I quote one of the versions of the famous sonnet by the Spanish poet Francisco de Quevedo: To a nose because it is probably the best description of the Bolivian coca grower leader Evo Morales Ayma. The satirical versist followed a classic tradition of making fun of his fellow countrymen, and at the same time each verse was a caricature about power. Taking advantage of the metaphor and other literary resources, Quevedo –like his contemporaries of the Spanish Golden Age– described and moralized about the abuse of those who climbed into finance or politics.
“Once upon a superlative nose” is not only the exaggerated fantasy of a child like Pinocchio but the organized, methodical and perverse lie planned from the courts to dominate the vulgar. How is it possible that a large number of Bolivians, including many lawyers, Argentine journalists, European intellectuals, American activists, create the simulations of Evo Morales?
Morales and his followers insist on talking about a coup to disqualify the citizen mobilization that throughout the country came out to protest against all the accumulated abuses, mainly against the many illegalities and irregularities that surrounded the 2019 elections. They have not presented any evidence in their favor; on the contrary, the hard events of the subsequent 11 months show that there was institutional continuity, as had happened in 1985, 2001, 2003, 2005.
An image also circulated, apparently put in the cloud by the cocalero himself, where in his escape he hid under a pink nylon in the middle of the Chapare jungle, cell phone in hand. Who will be the naive that believe such an artifice! The fuchsia color of the awning, the King Midas pose, the intergalactic talk are just another ruse. How absurd to think that the MAS emporium does not have a trench, a house, or a hotel for that man “stuck to his nose.”
The excess of the tricks of his “many nose” would give precious material to Quevedo’s ingenuity. On the other hand, here, the citizens are hardly astonished. So, so, so falsifying that he once again blamed the right for inventing diseases (obviously before an Argentine journalist). He and his palace entourage claimed until the last minute that he just had a cold. Not even such a “swordfish” hoax has deserved the general condemnation as it would happen with other protagonists.
Why hide that he was infected with the virus imported from China that causes Covid 19? Because also in this matter, Morales and the MAS have insisted for months on denying the pandemic, on blaming the government of Jeanine Áñez for inventing it -including the greeting elbow to elbow- and because the state of health of the former Bolivian president is known in Cuba, but not in his homeland. They insist so much with the lies that even the truth becomes doubtful.

“Érase un hombre a una nariz pegado”
“Érase un hombre a una nariz pegado, érase una nariz superlativa, érase una nariz sayón y escriba, érase un pez espada muy barbado. Érase un reloj de sol mal encarado, érase una alquitara pensativa, érase un elefante boca arriba, era Ovidio Nasón más narizado. Érase un espolón de una galera, érase una pirámide de Egipto, las doce tribus de narices era. Érase un naricísimo infinito, muchísima nariz, nariz tan fiera que en la cara de Anás fuera delito”.
Cito una de las versiones del famoso soneto del poeta español Francisco de Quevedo: A una nariz porque es probablemente la mejor descripción del dirigente cocalero boliviano Evo Morales Ayma. El satírico versista seguía una tradición clásica de burlarse de sus paisanos, y a la vez cada verso era una caricatura sobre el poder. Aprovechando la metáfora y otros recursos literarios Quevedo –como sus contemporáneos del Siglo de Oro español– describía y moralizaba sobre el abuso de quienes trepaban en las finanzas o en la política.
“Érase una nariz superlativa” no es solamente la fantasía exagerada de un niño como Pinocho sino la mentira organizada, metódica y perversa planeada desde las cortes para dominar al vulgo. ¿Cómo es posible que gran cantidad de bolivianos, entre ellos muchos letrados, periodistas argentinos, intelectuales europeos, activistas estadounidenses crean las simulaciones de Evo Morales?
Morales y sus seguidores insisten en hablar de un golpe de Estado para descalificar a la movilización ciudadana que a lo ancho y largo del país salió a protestar contra todos los abusos acumulados, principalmente contra las muchísimas ilegalidades e irregularidades que rodearon las elecciones de 2019. No han presentado ninguna prueba a su favor; al contrario, los hechos duros de los 11 meses posteriores demuestran que se dio continuidad institucional, como había sucedido en 1985, 2001, 2003, 2005.
También circuló una imagen, aparentemente puesta en la nube por el propio cocalero, donde en su huida se escondía bajo un nylon rosado en plena selva chapareña, celular en mano. ¡Cuáles serán los ingenuos que creen semejante artificio! El color fucsia del toldo, la pose de rey Midas, la charla intergaláctica son sólo otra treta. Qué absurdo pensar que en el emporio del MAS no exista trinchera, casa, hotel para ese hombre “a una nariz pegado”.
El exceso de las argucias de su “muchísima nariz” daría precioso material al ingenio de Quevedo. En cambio, acá, los ciudadanos se quedan apenas asombrados. Tan, tan, tan falsificador que una vez más culpó a la derecha de inventarle enfermedades (obviamente ante un periodista argentino). Él y su entorno palaciego afirmaron hasta último momento que sólo tenía un resfrío. Ni siquiera patraña tan de “pez espada” ha merecido la condena general como pasaría con otros protagonistas.
¿Por qué ocultar que estaba contagiado del virus importado de China que provoca la Covid 19? Porque también en ese asunto, Morales y el MAS han insistido durante meses en negar la pandemia, en culpar al gobierno de Jeanine Áñez de inventarla –incluyendo el saludo codo a codo– y porque el estado de salud del expresidente boliviano se conoce en Cuba, pero no en su patria. Tanto insisten con los embustes que hasta lo cierto se vuelve dudoso.
