We want new people
It may be the first time that the whole country, everybody, coincide with some masistas. Those who yelled at the coca grower Morales, in his face, “We want new people” were telling him that they don’t want him. Neither him nor his entourage.
Courage is needed to do that choir in a place controlled by the Venezuelan intelligence team, which is not separated from the coca grower, and from all the informants paid by the economic power of the Chapare.
In a clever move, but without hiding his annoyance, the coca grower chose to interpret this cry of repudiation as a request that the candidates for the sub-national elections in March be new people. But the repudiation was for him.
It was clear that those who handled some details of the meeting had very precise instructions, starting with having ruled out, from the outset, the use of garlands made with coca leaves, which is a surprising novelty in the MAS.
Even the protocol of the foreign ministry had adopted, during the cocalero’s fourteen years, the use of garlands made with coca leaves, such as the one that hung around Pope Francis’s neck during his visit to the country, which he gladly accepted due to his political leanings.
Senior officials of the United Nations or financial organizations, such as the IMF or ECLAC, had to walk, without question, with coca leaves hanging from their necks in the ceremonies organized by the cocalero’s government.
Who ordered that little detail, but so revealing? Someone who has proposed to cut the nexus that unites the MAS with coca or drug trafficking, and that could not be other than Vice President David Choquehuanca. He belongs to the Aymara current that says to those who want to listen to them: “We are Aymara but not coca growers.”
This is a very difficult battle. Choquehuanca has won in the Cochabamba meeting but was defeated in the control of the cabinet of ministers of President Luis Arce.
Siglo 21 says that the political mainstream of the vice president only got three ministries, while the coca grower and his ex-vice managed to have thirteen ministries, leaving only one for Arce.
But the battle of the Casa Campestre de Cochabamba was overwhelming. The cocalero was defeated. He could not even mention his desire to have his former ministers serve as Arce’s cabinet rectors.
Juan Ramón Quintana, one of the most resisted former ministers, even said before the meeting that they should be incorporated into the cabinet, but someone cut the issue down by saying that there is no money even for Arce’s ministers and there may be less for the former cocalero ministers.
In summary, Choquehuanca 3, Morales 1.

Queremos gente nueva
Quizá sea la primera vez que todo el país, todo, coincide con unos masistas. Esos que le gritaron al cocalero Morales, en la cara, “queremos gente nueva” le estaban diciendo a él que no lo quieren. Ni a él ni a su entorno.
Se necesita coraje para hacer ese coro en un lugar controlado por el equipo de inteligencia venezolano, que no se separa del cocalero, y de todos los soplones pagados por el poder económico del Chapare.
En una jugada hábil, pero sin disimular su molestia, el cocalero optó por interpretar ese grito de repudio como un pedido para que los candidatos a las elecciones subnacionales de marzo sean de gente nueva. Pero el repudio fue para él.
Quedó claro que quienes manejaron algunos detalles de la reunión tenían muy precisas instrucciones, comenzando por haber descartado, de entrada, el uso de guirnaldas hechas con hojas de coca, lo que es una novedad sorprendente en el MAS.
Incluso el protocolo de la cancillería había adoptado, durante los catorce años del cocalero, el uso de guirnaldas hechas con hojas de coca, como la que le colgaron al cuello al papa Francisco en su visita al país, lo que él aceptó encantado debido a sus inclinaciones políticas.
Altos funcionarios de las Naciones Unidas o de organismos financieros, como el FMI o la Cepal, tuvieron que caminar, sin chistar, con hojas de coca colgadas de sus cuellos en las ceremonias que organizaba el gobierno del cocalero.
¿Quién ordenó ese pequeño detalle, pero tan revelador? Alguien que se ha propuesto cortar el nexo que une al MAS con la coca o el narcotráfico, y ese no podía ser otro que el vicepresidente David Choquehuanca. Pertenece a la corriente de los aimaras que dice a quienes quieren escucharlos: “somos aimaras pero no cocaleros».
Esta es una batalla muy difícil. Choquehuanca ha ganado en la reunión de Cochabamba pero fue derrotado en el control del gabinete de ministros del presidente Luis Arce.
Dice Siglo 21 que la corriente del vicepresidente solo consiguió tres ministerios, mientras que el cocalero y su exvice consiguieron tener trece ministerios, dejando uno solo para Arce.
Pero la batalla de la Casa Campestre de Cochabamba fue aplastante. El cocalero salió derrotado. No pudo ni siquiera mencionar su deseo de que sus exministros hagan de rectores de gabinete de Arce.
Juan Ramón Quintana, uno de los más resistidos exministros, llegó a decir antes de la reunión que ellos debían ser incorporados en el gabinete, pero alguien cortó de raíz el tema diciendo que no hay dinero ni siquiera para los ministros de Arce y menos podrá haber para los exministros del cocalero.
En resumen, Choquehuanca 3, Morales 1.
