Until yesterday [9/13/2020], the department of Santa Cruz registered 19 forest fires that would have damaged 320,000 hectares of forest area, so the ministerial cabinet ordered a technical analysis to repeal the regulations of the previous government that authorize controlled burns, supposedly for agricultural and livestock activities, informed the Minister of Defense, Luis Fernando López.

“There is a supreme decree that is under study. As a government we have the will to repeal everything that has to do with burning, that is the reality. In the previous cabinet it was raised and is in technical analysis. We cannot continue to allow human beings to do so much damage to nature due to tradition or whatever, nothing justifies burning, nothing,” he said.

He also explained that what is happening in Chiquitania is a product of the drought and by the hand of some bad Bolivians who damaged several municipalities this weekend. The affected areas are in San Matías with 10,000 damaged hectares, Piso Firme 9,000, San Rafael 14,000 and San Miguel 13,000 hectares. Until a week ago there were 270,000 hectares that added to this weekend, an estimated 320,000 hectares affected.

On the other hand, the Secretary of Citizen Security of the Government, Cinthia Asín, said that until yesterday [9/13/2020] 19 forest fires were registered in the department, which are being attended to through the Crisis Committee, the affected municipalities, the Army, the firefighters volunteers and other institutions.

El departamento de Santa Cruz registró hasta ayer [13/9/2020] 19 incendios forestales y que habrían dañado 320.000 hectáreas de área boscosa, por lo que el gabinete ministerial ordenó un análisis técnico para derogar las normas del anterior gobierno que autorizan quemas controladas, supuestamente para actividades de agricultura y ganadería, informó el ministro de Defensa, Luis Fernando López.

“Hay un decreto supremo que está en estudio. Como gobierno tenemos la voluntad de derogar todo lo que tenga que ver con quemas, esa la realidad. En el anterior gabinete se planteó y está en análisis técnico. No podemos seguir permitiendo de que a razón de tradición o lo que fuere, el ser humano haga tanto daño a la naturaleza, nada justifica una quema, nada”, manifestó.

Explicó también que lo que está ocurriendo en la Chiquitania es producto de la sequía y por la mano de algunos malos bolivianos que dañaron este fin de semana a varios municipios. Las áreas afectadas están en San Matías con 10.000 hectáreas dañadas, Piso Firme 9.000, San Rafael 14.000 y San Miguel 13.000 hectáreas. Hasta hace una semana había 270.000 hectáreas que sumadas a lo de este fin de semana, se estima en 320.000 hectáreas afectadas.

Por otro lado, la secretaria de Seguridad Ciudadana de la Gobernación, Cinthia Asín, dijo que hasta ayer [13/9/2020] fueron registrados 19 incendios forestales en el departamento, los cuales están siendo atendidos a través del Comité de Crisis, los municipios afectados, el Ejército, los bomberos voluntarios y otras instituciones.
