The National Museum of Art celebrates its 52 years

The National Museum of Art, dependent on the Cultural Foundation of the Central Bank of Bolivia, will inaugurate tomorrow two exhibitions of recovery of the country’s artistic heritage, in two-dimensional formats in painting and contemporary photographs of recent acquisition and other collections of contemporary sculpture of the XX and XXI centuries.

The exhibition will begin tomorrow, from 7:00 p.m., as one of the activities that are organized for the 52nd anniversary of the National Museum of Art.

The samples, which were carefully selected, will be exhibited in the rooms of Diez de Medina, while the three-dimensional works will be exhibited in the Patio de Cristal, although these can be appreciated as of August 29, with free entrance for all public.

The collections that are part of the exhibition, are the result of the recovery management of national historical memory captured through the look and interpretation of Bolivian artists, details a statement from the National Museum of Art.

Among the antecedents of the institution, its most important milestone corresponds to 1961, with a pictorial exhibition at the National Pinacoteca Pérez Holguín, in which 69 viceregal works belonging to the issuing body were exhibited.

Later the first restoration of the first floor of the Casa de los Condes de Arana was carried out, which gave way to the official inauguration of the National Museum of Art, on August 3, 1966, which since its inception assumed the function of conservation and preservation of the national heritage.
