Starting 2018: Check out the new banknotes that will circulate in Bolivia

The current designs will be replaced by figures of heroes of the libertarian deed, flora and fauna in danger of extinction and national heritage.

The Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) is ready to launch in the coming months the new family of banknotes that will circulate in the country. The cuts of 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 bolivianos will maintain their colors but they will have new images, that is to say that the current designs will be changed.

The new tickets will have in common three basic elements in its design: the libertarian deed, flora and fauna in danger of extinction and places of the national historical patrimony.

The colors will be maintained: brown for Bs 200, red for 100, violet for 50, orange for 20 and blue for 10.

In the images that you can see below, the figures that will be included in the banknotes are described:

10 bolivianos

These figures will replace those of Cecilio Guzmán de Rojas and on the back an image of the city of Cochabamba.

20 bolivianos

These figures will replace Pantaleón Dalence and the colonial house of the city of Tarija.

50 bolivianos

These images will replace the painter Melchor Pérez de Holguín and the Tower of the Church of the Company of Jesus in the city of Potosí.

100 bolivianos

These figures will replace the figures of the historian Gabriel René Moreno and the Greater Royal and Pontifical University of San Francisco Xavier de Chuquisaca de Sucre.

200 bolivianos

These figures will replace the images of Franz Tamayo and the pre-Inca ruins of the Tihuanacota empire on the shores of Lake Titicaca.

This material was elaborated based on information of the Central Bank of Bolivia (BCB) contained in the Baseline Document of Contract for the bidding of the printing of the New Family of Banknotes.

Bolivian Thoughts opinion: While I understand that from time to time there is the need to replace our banknotes, it also reflects how bad we treat/use them … unlike how well we take care of the American dollar banknotes … people forget they have a cost, to print them!

I am only confused of the many symbols that will be used per bill … will they be too crowded or will there by banknotes with one of each?
