The Executive Director of the Libera Association, Carolina Pericón, political scientist, says that her team, formed by two political scientists and an economist, was born to promote research in young university students and young professionals who attended on a voluntary basis with tutoring in academic works.

A year of training, the Association presents this February the first issue of the academic journal “set free: the power of ideas – the role of the State in modern societies” where they are stamped signatures of Salvador Romero Ballivian, Juan Antonio Morales, and specialists among them, along with articles of young professionals and junior researchers of political sciences of the Catholic University of Bolivia, who participated in the debate about the role of the State in society and in the economy. The presentation of the magazine, which has the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, will be Tuesday, February 5, at 18:45, in the living room Illimani in the Radisson Hotel, Avenida Arce 2177 city of La Paz.

“We believe that it can definitely support the training given at universities. To train new, critical thought is one of the missions that we see forward, precisely identifying some gaps within the programs of the universities, it’s help, do joint work,” says the political scientist.

Carolina Pericón clarifies that the thematic pillars of the Libera Association are political freedom, with the rule of law and representative democracy as edges of discussion; economic freedom with private ownership as a central theme; and humanist and Christian values.

A first product of the work of a year is the academic journal, whose launch will be the call to turn to write the next edition which will be about freedom of thought, characters and ideas.

Members of the Libera Association began its work, also, identifying a “vacuum” in academic discussion on political issues, something that on Pericón’s approach is reflected in the scarcity of scientific papers and in the absence of a training to new generations.
